I was almost French…

7 01 2009

Yesterday I practiced patience. I assumed the French way of eating three meals a day and cut out my snacking.

Breakfast was coffee and a yogurt. Lunch was 2 pieces of whole-grain baguette topped with brie and cucumber slices. Dinner was chicken and sauteed mushrooms, onions and peppers.

I wish I could say that was that. But before I ate my dinner, I was cooking my daughter’s spaghetti and had a few bites of it. And after she went to bed I took a couple bites of her leftover Nutella sandwich.

If I can learn to control my relationship with food (my over-obsessive, over-eating relationship!) then perhaps I can get back into losing weight. I especially want to keep my food intake to a minimum healthy amount because my birthday dinner is coming up this weekend and I know I’m going to have a cupcake or two…

Lazy Days

16 02 2008

Today is a lazy day. So far I’ve sat around in my robe “window shopping” on the internet (I haven’t bought anything yet!), checking up on celebrity gossip and checking out what’s new in the fashion world (colour, pretty mixed with strong elements, eighties – marc jacob’s why?). Anyway, I’ve already watched The Jungle Book with my toddler, now we’re onto Finding Nemo, and soon we’ll be watching Cars. Seriously. It’s a great day. (sarcasm is oozing out of my pores)

But I can’t really complain too much, I just need to make sure to do my workout dvd later today. I really recommend it, Elle’s Glamour Fitness, it’s great. It really works you out hard and you get sweaty in no time. Ugh, I’m feeling so lazy today though. I’m following my diet which isn’t really hard at all because I’m used to it already, but the working out part is driving me crazy.

I woke up today at 162.8 lbs, surprising since last night I ate a little more than I should (a couple of tostito chips, a chocolate, a bit of peanut butter, I was going nutty with my cravings last night!). I really wanted to run out and get myself an espresso brownie from Starbucks, but I didn’t. Thank god. Those things are devilish. If you’ve never had one, go out on your cheat day – or any day if you’re not dieting – and grab one. Just make sure it’s sometime before 6 pm, because any later and it’ll keep you up all night. It’s so rich and decadent and ooooh yummy. Mmmm.  Can’t have them right now. Too bad, so sad.

Anyway, today I’m going to eat a little less than yesterday because last night I got out of hand, and so far I’ve eaten my grapefruit, egg whites with some chicken thrown in, and 2/3’s of a protein bar. Lunch will be… perhaps a salad with some chicken. Snack #2 will be my organic muffins that are high in fiber and 100 cals. Dinner? We’ll see. Probably chicken or swordfish with steamed veggies.  There’s my day in food.

I need to work out though. Urgh. I hate it I hate it I hate it.

Here’s to a lazy day. Hope you’re having a good one.

2nd Dinner, Baton Rouge

23 11 2007

So tonight my diet was not a complete disaster, only half of one. Steak, baked potato (topped completely with ALL the toppings), caesar salad and garlic bread WITH cheese to start. My days always seem to start out good and end up with the worst ending ever. And I somehow don’t seem to care, especially with two 9 oz glasses of zinfandel from California under my belt – sorry, no belt actually. Tights, underneath a stretchy sweater, so there’s room for expansion (you know what I mean.).

Anyway, I’m still celeb obsessed, and two baby showers have caught my eye lately. Nicole Richie’s and Christina Aguilera’s baby showers were so different, but only one was definitely expected. Christina the diva, with her THREE seperate baby showers, Petit Tresor baby registry, and looking like a drag queen at 6 or 7 months pregnant, completes her image – her too hot for anything, wannabe drag queen, super glam, super diva image. Whereas Nicole’s baby shower, which was Wizard of Oz themed (very cute), consisted of contributing to her and Madden’s foundation to help struggling mothers, as well as another foundation for young mothers, which is so unlike her image. I fell in love with Nicole when she was the bitchy little brat on The Simple Life, and then fell out of love with her when she turned into a twig of a popsicle, so now, seeing her pregnant and giving things away to the less fortunate, well, it raises a notch for her in my books.

Anyway, I have to go out for dinner again tomorrow – to the same restaurant no less, so I’m going to have to put together a whole different look again for the third dinner at the same restaurant in a week. Well, I’ll have fun anyway, different company right?

Anyway, I will write more tomorrow, until then, good night ;)

Calorie Counting

29 10 2007

I discovered a new page that I’d like to share with you. http://caloriecount.about.com/ It seems good, has a forum, a good place to track your food with calories, track your activities and figure out your food personality (it got me right on).  Totally recommend it.
